Fragments of JOY!
Fragments of JOY! is an online exhibition that I curated on behalf of my photography magazine No! Wahala Magazine.
From 4 October to 4 December 2024, ten extraordinary African photographers took us on a journey that challenges perceptions and celebrates the unapologetic power of JOY!
For too long, narratives about Africa have focused on pain and suffering, but our JOY! is bold, radiant, and impossible to contain. Through this exhibition, we invited the audience to unlearn old frames, look deeper, and discover the vibrant fragments of JOY! that have always existed—often overlooked, but never absent.
AMOEBA
I was part of the curatorial team for AMOEBA which was a group exhibition by photographers from across Greater Manchester.
The title of the show is inspired by community worker Tony Wright who said, ‘Community is an Amoeba, it can be anything you want it to be’.
This group of photographers have come together to create an exhibition exploring this idea as a way of connecting, collaborating, sharing practice and learning from each other.
